Antenna Theory and Techniques Catalog

This section of the catalog is concerned with antenna theory and techniques. Many of the courses are taken from other sections of the course catalog, and are also placed here so that they can be easily found by those interested in antennas and antenna measurement.

Click on the course number to see a detailed description of each course and registration instructions.

Courses marked "(free)" are available to all, whether or not you have a current subscription. All other courses require a current subscription for access. We offer these free courses to allow you to try out our training before you subscribe.

If there is a course you would like to see us develop in this section you can always suggest a course.

Course No.Course TitleEq. Hours*Prerequisites
ANT120 The Friis Transmission Equation

This course covers the Friis transmission equation. This equation models the coupling between two antennas under the assumption of far-field and free-space conditions.

 1EE103
RADAR103 The Radar Equation

This is a short course on the radar equation. It includes a short derivation, and some description on how one would use it.

 2RADAR100 EE103
MEAS404 Introduction to Antenna Measurement Concepts

This is an introductory course that covers the terminology associated with antennas and antenna measurement.

 3MEAS101 EE104 MATH110
MEAS450 Basic Far-Field Antenna Measurement

A basic course on far-field antenna measurement techniques. Included are outdoor range, and anechoic chamber measurements of antenna parameters.

 5MEAS404
MEAS451 Anechoic Chamber, Near-Field and Outdoor Ranges

A basic course in anechoic chamber, near-field, and outdoor ranges. The basic variations of these types of ranges are discussed.

 2MEAS450
MEAS452 Gain Extrapolation Antenna Measurements

This is a short course on the gain extrapolation method of determining antenna gain.

 1MEAS451
MEAS453 Planar Near-Field Antenna Measurements

This is a basic overview of the foundation and practice of planar near-field antenna measurements. It is meant to be the foundation for future courses on the topic.

 4MEAS404
ANT210 Introduction to Phased Arrays

In introductory course on phased arrays. Considers arrays of isotropic radiators to develop some of the basic principles. Assumes understanding of complex numbers, and knowledge of basic antenna parameters.
